A Short History of the NRHS - Iowa Chapter


The NRHS - Iowa Chapter was founded in 1953 as a way for railfans from around the entire state of Iowa to share their common love for railroads.  Over the years, the Iowa Chapter has hosted many fan events and train rides.  The Chapter currently hosts two meetings each year for members to attend.  Meetings occur in the sping and fall at various locations around the state.  These meetings are designed for members to see presentations about current railroads, learn about the history of railroading in Iowa, and get access to depots and museum collections that may not otherwise be accessable to the public.  The Chapter also has a quarterly publication, "The Switch Lamp" which helps keep our members informed reagrding current railroad news and share information about upcoming events.  Please consider joining the Iowa Chaper, and supporting us by purchasing our photo CD collections.
